It is now May and the golfing season is in fully upon us. We experienced a few technical problems during our course aerification this month but having the course closed allowed for us to handle any difficulties. I realize that closing the course is a large sacrifice for the membership but this allows us to perform these duties more efficiently and in the long run only benefits the course. I thank the entire membership for their continued support and understanding.
Many of you may have noticed the divot bottles installed on our fleet of carts this season. A quick reminder, however, that all divots should still be replaced and stepped down. The mix is to be used for the divots which explode or disintegrate on impact. Please fill the hole with the green sand and smooth out. This will help to keep our fairways in tip top shape.
I would also like to thank Steve Clayton and the tournament committee for the successful opening social, it did help that I was one of the winners. A good time was had by all and I encourage all members to support the club by attending these events.
Our drainage project will begin soon. We will be adding drainage to # 1 fairway, the driving range, #4 fairway, #5 fairway and #9 fairway starting after Memorial Day. We hope to complete this project in about two weeks and will try our best to stay out of the membership’s way.
May the golfing gods continue to smile upon you and all of your shots find the short grass!
Warm regards,
Bill Yanakakis
Superintendent
